"The future of X-Stream… some possibilities… some thinking

X-Stream … or whatever follows … is very much ‘up for grabs’. As a result we are suggesting...........

1) that we start a discussion running on this blog.... your comments are greatly encouraged. Please be bold. No anonymous posts please.

4/12/06.....As you can see from the young peoples comments on the Bebo website ...they want more of the same... but are they just commenting from their comfort zone? One of the pre-eminent trends of most groups (church or otherwise) is to operate from their comfort zone.

Jesus said "Go!"; not "come!"

We took the XS teenage leadership team down to the central belt a couple of years ago to experience two very different styles of worship... one with a very small group meeting in a community centre in a fairly tough part of Edinburgh and the other St Silas's Episcopal church in Glasgow. From their comments they did not see the former as church at all (and it very definitely is; it is a Church of Scotland New Charge Development) and the latter was seen as a bit freaky (and it is in reality very well established and scriptually rooted; geared to late teens, 20's and 30's; take a look here).

In terms of getting the young people to think missionally or perhaps out of the box, we do not know how successful the trip was... Maybe we have to use such an experience as a step in a process.
